Classes Descriptions:
Papermaking: Throughout the day we will be gathering materials from nature that we can use to make paper. Help us scavenge for leaves and petals. Learn how they will be turned into a sheet of handmade paper. This is not a class, but a display and a day long scavenger hunt.
Shield Heraldry: The children will learn about heraldry and be able to put their own 'arms' on blank shields. Shields and coloring items supplied. This is good for all ages.
Embroidery: Basic Medieval embroidery techniques. Geared more children around 7 years old and up.
Youth Combat Lunch and Learn: A current Marshal will be available for a lunch and learn. He will discuss the rules of Youth Combat, the armoring and the battle. Discussions around current SCA rules will also be on the table. Parents who already have fighters or those who are interested in getting their youngster involved are encouraged to attend. Food and Beverage will be served.
Sword Making: Come color up a sword for you to use with your shield. Cardboard swords and coloring items supplied. This is good for all ages.
Favor Making: With use of strip fabric and fabric markers, children will create their own favors. All materials supplied. Queens Favors will be available as well for those who may wish to complete and hand over that day. (painted favors suitable for all, embroidered for 7 and up)
Bookbinding: Come and learn how to make simple hand bound books with paper, needle and thread. There is a technique that will work for all ages, so please join us to make and embellish a small blank journal or children's story. All Materials Supplied.
Arrowheads: Arrowheads: Display and discussion of different types of arrowheads, their purposes, and a little bit about how much fun archery is! Suitable for ages 5 and up.
